INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Our work begins with the understanding that seeking therapeutic guidance is an act of courage and affirmation of your life path. In our sessions, nothing is more important than your sense of comfort and safety as you explore the more challenging aspects of your life with me. During our time together, you will discover that we all have an innate ability and a natural propensity to heal. Individual Therapy is exactly that — the two of us learning who you are at this moment in time, unique and courageous, ready for self-exploration.

COUPLES THERAPY

Relationships provide dynamic opportunities for personal growth when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable. My work as your therapist is to help you each learn ways to talk through difficult issues and emotions so they do not become resentments within your relationship. Together we will create a safe space where you can begin to hear each other again.

In these sessions, couples have the opportunity to be open with each other in ways that are honest and healing. The degree of difficulty navigating our emotional responses increases exponentially in romantic relationships.  Through these sessions, you will discover how to draw upon your strengths to tend to the areas of the relationship that feel like they are not working. This is where we can explore the ways a couple may become “unstuck” and grow — together rather than apart.

EMDR

EMDR

Although the mind/body has an innate and healthy capacity for processing painful past experiences in order to heal and grow, a traumatic event or series of events can overwhelm and disrupt that natural course. Without intervention, the individual can become stuck in an ongoing state of living one's trauma rather than moving past it.

In my experience as a therapist, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Attachment-focused EMDR prove — often with greater speed — to be a powerful and effective means of helping people overcome the lingering effects of traumatic memories and events. EMDR therapies demonstrate that the mind can effectively heal from psychological trauma in ways similar to how the body recovers from physical trauma. Typically, those events can range from a single incident, such as an auto accident, to trauma endured long-term, such as abuse in childhood. Whether as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with more traditional talk therapy, Attachment-focused EMDR is an available option for meeting the specific needs of each individual client or couple. I also have found that Attachment-focused EMDR is valuable in helping anxious individuals to become more calm, address long-standing negative beliefs, and achieve better integration of their emotional experience. This protocol continues to produce long-lasting benefits for my clients.
